America is undergoing a racism audit. And according to a Washington school system, we can’t let music lessons off the hook.
Per its website , “The Olympia School District (OSD) provides diverse and challenging learning opportunities for nearly 10,000 students with a staff of administrators, teachers and support personnel totaling more than 1,300.”
The large association boasts an Equity Team, and its Equity Policy Development department is keen to stop systemic racism: The Olympia School District is committed to creating an equitable school district that serves ALL students well. … The [Equity Policy] will be collaboratively designed with the community to ensure a more inclusive school and work culture that promotes equity and addresses systemic and institutional barriers that have historically marginalized students, staff and families.
