President Donald Trump announced his first major appointment for his upcoming administration, naming Susan Wiles as his Chief of Staff.
“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” Trump said in a statement.
“Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again,” he added. “It is a well deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”

Mark Cuban is likely annoyed.

Riley Gaines points out that unlike Joe Biden, Trump didn’t make this decision to fill a diversity hire position.
The difference with Trump and Biden is that he didn’t choose Wiles because she’s a woman. He chose her because she led one of the most impressive and effective campaigns this country has ever seen—she just happens to be a woman.
This is meritocracy. https://t.co/aOMuR9S0UB

Charlie Kirk is pleased.
Susie Wiles becoming Chief of Staff is MASSIVE. She risked her entire political career and potentially becoming a victim of the Biden-Harris lawfare regime for her country.
A true patriot. This is a GREAT move for MAGA and America.

According to The Hill:
Prior to serving as a top Trump adviser in the 2024 election, Wiles led his Florida operations in the 2016 campaign. She went on to work with Ron DeSantis (R) on his gubernatorial campaign in the state, but left DeSantis’s team amid rising tensions.
Chief of staff is seen as the most influential job in the White House, aside from the presidency itself, and Wiles will be tasked with managing Trump and his team of at-times competing factions, a job that proved difficult and thankless during his first term.
Trump went through four chiefs of staff during his first term in office. His first pick, Reince Priebus, lasted six months before being replaced by John Kelly, who has since become an outspoken critic of Trump.
We’ll see how this pick works out. Considering his first Chief of Staff was Reince Priebus, the bar was set pretty low.
