The Heritage Foundation has filed a new Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in an effort to obtain records relating to Vice President Kamala Harris’ role as “Border Czar.”
The lawsuit asks a federal court to issue a preliminary injunction requiring the DHS to release all records that name Harris as the border czar, or reference her role in curtailing illegal immigration by September 21, according to a report from Breitbart News.
“On April 14, 2021, President Joseph R. Biden announced that Vice President Harris would be appointed — in the words of the press — the ‘Border Czar.’ Effectively, this meant Vice President Harris would be responsible for overseeing and coordinating border security policies and operations,” the lawsuit states.
It goes on to note the confusion surrounding Harris’ role as “border czar,” as several mainstream media outlets have attempted to claim that Harris never served in such a role. […]
