President Donald Trump, engaging directly with his supporters on Truth Social, provided a real-time rebuttal to Vice President Kamala Harris’s speech at the Democratic National Convention, highlighting what he perceived as critical omissions and failures in her address.
Trump pointed out, “She didn’t mention China, she didn’t mention fracking, she didn’t mention Energy, she didn’t mention, meaningfully, Russia and Ukraine, she didn’t mention the big subjects of the day, that are destroying our Country.”
This critique underscores what many Trump supporters feel is the Democratic Party’s avoidance of pressing national and global issues under their administration.
Throughout Harris’s speech, Trump took to Truth Social to voice his concerns, emphasizing the economic plight under the current administration: “There are 60 million people in poverty in the U.S., under their watch, and she doesn’t even talk about them!”
Trump also took a swipe at Harris’s reference to San Francisco, suggesting her policies have led to the city’s decline: “She’s talking about how great San Francisco was before she destroyed it, probably not a good idea!”
The former president criticized Harris for what he sees as a lack of concrete action: “No specific programs, ALL TALK, NO ACTION — Why didn’t she do it three and a half years ago?”
Trump’s use of terms like “radical Marxist” for Harris and describing her stance as representing “incompetence and weakness” taps into the fears and frustrations of his supporters about the direction of the country under Democratic leadership. He argued that under Harris’s watch, “the country is being laughed at all over the world.”
In response to Harris labeling him an “unserious man,” Trump’s supporters might argue that her speech did little to address the serious issues facing the nation, focusing instead on personal attacks rather than policy substance. Harris’s claim that Trump would only serve himself if re-elected is seen by Trump’s base as a misrepresentation, given his record of economic policies and America First initiatives.
As the election approaches, with the first debate between Harris and Trump scheduled for September 10 in Philadelphia, Trump’s live commentary during the DNC speech serves not just as a rebuttal but as a rallying cry for his supporters, framing the upcoming election as a choice between action and rhetoric, between putting America first or continuing what he sees as a path of decline under Democratic leadership.
