Mayor Trent Staggs of Riverton, Utah, says that Utah GOP Sen. Mitt Romney doesn’t represent the people and it’s time for a different voice in Washington, D.C.
“They feel like Senator Romney has not represented them, has not represented their values — particularly Republicans — and so many have come out wanting somebody else who’s a true conservative,” Staggs told the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show. “Utahns deserve a true conservative to represent them in the seat.”
Staggs is planning to run against Romney in the 2024 Republican primary for U.S. Senate. Romney filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission in April, but he hasn’t formally announced his reelection bid.
