Editor’s Commentary: I have always appreciated Paul Craig Roberts’ perspectives. My conversations with him have shown me he understands geopolitics better than just about anyone I know. I do not agree with everything he posted in the article below from Free West Media, but I’m printing it anyway because it does shed light on the reality that we are closer to war with Russia than any time since the Cold War.
The best way we can contribute to preventing WWIII from happening (other than prayer, of course) is to pressure our elected officials to keep us as far away from the regional conflict in Ukraine as possible. We can help the suffering Ukrainian people, but military intervention of any kind is not in our best interests, nor will it help to save the people of Ukraine. It will only make matters worse and almost certainly result in a war scenario that nobody outside of the Military Industrial Complex or the Chinese Communist Party should desire. Here’s Paul’s article…
The US does not currently have hypersonic missiles, but will sooner or later. Such missiles on Russia’s borders could reach Moscow in 3 or 4 minutes, clearly an existential threat. Along with Finland, Washington wants the bases in Sweden and the Baltic states, and already has missile bases in Poland and Romania.
Whereas Washington intends Finland’s NATO membership as a new provocation, we must not forget two other existing provocations that the Kremlin has declared to be unacceptable: the existing missile bases in Poland and Romania.
It makes no sense for Russia to preemptively prevent missile bases in Ukraine and Finland while permitting existing bases to remain in Poland and Romania. Russian intervention against these two bases are likely the next self-defensive actions the Russians will take.
The West’s whore media has done its best to create worldwide indignation against Russia. People worked up into indignation do not perceive the irresponsibility of Western governments in gratuitously threatening Russia with missile bases on her borders. Instead of properly perceiving the placement of the bases as aggression against Russia, the indoctrinated people see Russia’s response to existential threats as aggression.
I have emphasized for years that these provocations of Russia will eventually cross a red line and result in nuclear war. I have long been critical of the Kremlin for not having stopped these provocations by putting down a strong foot. Russia had that opportunity in Ukraine, but the Kremlin chose a course that failed to make the necessary impression that countries that accommodate US aggression against Russia will experience devastation.
It is less risky to make this demonstration in a non-NATO country than in a NATO one. Additionally, the Kremlin waited far too long before intervening in Ukraine, thereby giving the US 8 years to arm and train Ukrainian forces.
By pussy-footing around in Ukraine, Russia will again be confronted with the same problem in Finland or elsewhere in addition to the two existing bases in two NATO members on Russia’s border. There is no doubt whatsoever that US/NATO have set a path that leads straight to nuclear war. As nothing that is outside the narrative can be published or discussed in the Western world, nothing can be done to stop this insane drive into nuclear war. It is not even possible to discuss this threat in Western foreign policy circles. Again the world is sleepwalking into war, but this war will be nuclear and the final war.
All that the Kremlin has achieved with its restraint and reliance on negotiation with the West is to intensify the pace and level of provocations. NATO’s Stoltenberg is courting both Finland and Sweden for NATO membership promising their membership would be fast-tracked, and likely other benefits including bagfuls of money. This report should wake people up to the real situation, which is expanding conflict. At some point existential considerations will force Russia to take the initiative and cease responding to Washington’s agenda.

Fire Departments Sued by Biden-Harris for Requiring Job Candidates to Learn How to Fight Fires
by The Gateway Pundit
Thank heavens for the Biden-Harris administration and its steadfast determination to root out institutional racism wherever it may hide. And it hides in the strangest places, too. For instance, do you know it’s institutionally racist to expect a firefighter to know enough to fight fires? I know, I’d been too…

The All-Too-Short List of Conservative, Anti-Globalist Leaders
by The Gateway Pundit
As the world shifts leftward and increasingly embraces globalism, a handful of leaders remain as holdouts—conservative, anti-globalist figures who advocate for national sovereignty, economic protectionism, and opposition to globalist institutions such as the United Nations, the European Union, or multinational trade agreements. They frequently push for secure borders and immigration…
Your thinking is backwards. Eastern Europe has a well founded fear of Russian aggression and Putin madness. Russia and USSR have a long history of violent aggression against its neighbors. NATO expansion has been driven by eastern Europe’s strong desire to stop future Russian aggression. Putin has engaged in a brutal war of aggression against a sovereign and peaceful country. Putin started the aggression in Ukraine about the time of Obama’s second election.
Your article makes Russia into a victim. Putin and supporting Russians are evil, this century’s equivalent of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. Putin is threat to world peace. The brave people of Ukraine resist his brutal war and war crimes.
Echo the MSM talking points much?
Dodging the point much…..
There are no good guys here. This is a Globalist orchestrated and controlled war. And finally I don’t want a rehash of Western propaganda any more than I want a dose of Rusdian propaganda. You are dead wrong in most of what you’ve stated. Do your homework instead of being a parrot.
You are the media whore we’ve been warned against… MSNBC?
Look up Operation Gladio in Europe in 80s to get a better idea of NATO, they are NOT the good guys and devastated Europe in 80s with their policies. Further, there is very good reason for Russian aggression – NATO has surrounded them and boxed them in and Russia knows full well NATO does NOT have their best intentions in store for Russia and never has. Yes they were there to stop Russian communism but ask yourself this: if that is true then why are they still there 30 years AFTER communism fell in Russia? What is their real goal? Their top people are Nazis, and the Nazis have been in Ukraine since WW2. When I was in Ukraine in 1977 our tour guide told us that. They are still there. WHY? Putin is there to take down Nazis and their child sex/drug/adrenachrome trafficking and the pedophiles. That is all. Most media are not telling us this though and are siding with Biden who is neck deep in corruption in Ukraine and Biden is trying to save his own skin, does NOT have our best interests at heart. NATO leaders are siding with Nazis and that has always been their real goal – to bring Nazism to as many countries as possible. Nazis never surrendered in WW2, they just went underground in places like S. America especially in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. S. Americans knew this in 1979 when I was there. There is much that is not being told to us by most news sources.
When has NATO attacked a country without provocation? Cannot think of any attack in my lifetime. NATO is just a protection club. Members protect each other. Personally I aint a fan of NATO just for the fact we put WAY too much $$$ into that organization than we should. In fact I would love to see then forced to move out of our country.
Actually the writer is strategic in thought not virtue signaling or emotional. Study our Monroe Doctrine where we can prevent hostile entities from establishing a presence in our hemisphere. Putin on behalf of the Russia Federation exercising its version of the Monroe Doctrine. We could end this quickly if we just followed the Treaty of Minsk.
Apologetics for horrific Russian aggression? Russia invades a sovereign nation and it’s the sovereign nation’s fault. Russia threatens another sovereign nation and, once again, it’s that nation’s fault. Has the author no knowledge of the history of Russian conquest and its chronic excuse that Russia is afraid? So, what’s the answer? Simply surrender to every Russian demand? Do we refrain from supporting Russia’s victims because Russia might get angry. Perhaps we give back all of the former Warsaw Pact nations to make Russia feel safer. No, I guess that won’t work. When Russia refused to withdraw from Eastern Europe after WWII the excuse was that Russia needed a buffer for its security. That wasn’t good enough. Russia then threatened Europe for decades because its new boundaries weren’t enough. So, to all Russia apologists, where is the limit to Russian aggression? Legitimate question. How about answering it?
Ukraine hasn’t been a sovereign nation since the West used a coup in 2014 to overthrow their legitimate government. They are a U.S./NATO puppet state.
the argument of a weak mind, so replacing it with a Russian puppet state is an improvement….not really, how’s about less totalitarianism for once from your ilk.
See my post above for another perspective.
I have not heard one good reason why Russia invaded Ukraine.
In 45 days, they have lost thousands of men, a few hundred tanks and aircraft and a dozen senior commanders. Why this is scary for NATO and countries bordering on Russia, baffles me.
I would not be surprised if there was a mutiny brewing in the ranks. By now, the the families of Russian soldiers are well aware of the Army losses. His oligarch pals see their assets frozen and could possibly be confiscated. Russia is importing mercenaries. However, that can’t be a long term solution. China might provide some help, but, right now, Russia does not look like a winner.
The smart play for the West, keep the Ukrainians supplied. No troops, but all the weapons and other logistics they need. There is no reason for either side to negotiate. The Russians aren’t winning and the Ukrainians aren’t losing.
1. Because the citizens in eastern pro-Russian provinces in the Ukraine have been being slaughtered by Ukrainian military for the last decade–not a word about that in the media.
2. Because MINSK I and II, signed by Ukraine and Russia, was blown off by Ukraine.
We supported that military, and we paid $5 Billion to fund a color revolution for regime change in 2014. Our State Dept decided who got to be in the Ukrainian government, not the people of the Ukraine. Listen to Nuland on a leaked call gleefully picking the Ukraine government.

Seems like bad things happen when Dear Pnegreaux and Biden are involved.
Exactly, but the sheep would prefer to believe the propaganda spewed out by the same people who brought us Russian Collusion, Covid lockdows, and buried the national security threat of the Hunter laptop.
Because Ukrainian citizens have been slaughtered by pro Russian Ukrainian separatists… Might wonder why the Budapest Memorandum is blown off by Russia too.
1) nazis in ukraine were about to enter Russia and try to topple Russian govt.
2) Ukraine is huge epicenter of corruption i.e. child sex trafficking/drug trafficking/adrenachrome/pedophilia all being run by nazis. This was impacting Russia hugely. There are many false flags in Ukraine and we are being lied to by most news sources especially MSM.
for the rest of it see my post above.
Actually we do have hypersonic missles.
We just don’t let the world know. Unless Biden has made another gaff.
Once again! Ukraine is not a member of NATO no matter how many times our braindead President says it.
Not officially anyway.
I wonder if the author understands there is no such thing as a generic missile? Seems he does not. If Putin wants hypersonics or any other land attack missiles out of eastern Europe perhaps more talking and less bombing. His paranoia may end us all.
We broke the Minsk agreement. Russia Federation is just exercising its version of our Monroe Doctrine. This could stop quickly if NATO adhered to the Minsk Treaty
Unfortunately, we have a Jurassic dementia patient squatting in the white house who thinks he’s the US president.
I disagree. I’m 80, and the worst period in the cold war that I lived through was the Cuban Missile Crisis in the fall of 1962. It followed by 19 months the Bay of Pigs “invasion”, which was a disastrous attempt to oust Castro caused by JFK’s failure to support what he started.
I did not vote for JFK but America was fortunate to have him at the helm during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Our Generals were pushing for an air assault followed by a troop landing. They did not know that short range ballistic nuclear missiles were already installed in Cuba and ready to fire. Nor did they know that there were 43,000 Soviet troops in Cuba. Such a landing could have caused the Cubans to fire their missiles at cities in the South Eastern US. JFK opted for a naval blockade on October 22, 1962, and a destroyer forced a USSR submarine to turn around. Later, in an agreement, JFK took Jupiter missiles out of Turkey in exchange for Khrushchev taking missiles out of Cuba. Two months later my wife and I were married in a ceremony we didn’t think would happen.
Knowing all about possibilities is one thing (almost anything is “possible”), but, talking about Nuclear War as a real possibility is beyond stupid and beyond the pale. Talking about it leads to general stupid people talking about survival rates, possibilities and scenarios until the world gets talked into a corner. “If they do this, we’ll do that”, and “if he uses tactical nukes, we’ll respond in kind” etc is nuts.
Without PC Roberts’ telling us we all know that our Military should have developed hypersonic nuclear-capable missles first (instead of abandoning the idea). We’ve also wasted decades “playing nice” by not seizing control of Near Earth Space militarily…whoever controls the satelites controls the world. Without GPS and Communication Sats, we are done. Thanks to Bill Clinton for giving Loreal propulsions/control science to China in exchange of campaign bribes
