Last month, Fox News Host Tucker Carlson alleged that the NSA was “spying” on him in an effort to get his popular primetime show taken off the air. (Report continues below.) According to a new report in the Record, an internal NSA investigation into its operations found that there was no deliberate effort to target the host’s emails but, instead, Carlson may have been a victim of “unmasking” — a process in which government officials may request the identity of the person in the intelligence documents to be disclosed in order to help understand the communications.
The Record reports that its sources declined to say which government officials had requested the unmasking of Carlson’s name.
