A statue of one of America’s founders almost made it two centuries before being canceled by progressives.
In an exclusive for the New York Post , Mayor Bill de Blasio said he intends to remove a statue of Thomas Jefferson from New York City Hall, where it remained erect for the last 187 years. It is heading to the New York Historical Society for an “indefinite” period of time.
The decision to move Jefferson’s likeness came during the Public Design Commission’s “consent” agenda, which did not include public insight. Though, the committee said it would review any comments submitted virtually. “The city would still own the plaster model, and the historical society would include it in educational exhibits and provide valuable historical context,” said a spokesperson for the mayor’s office.
